Everyone had a super fun playtime in the snow today. Luckily everyone was wrapped up warm, and enjoyed being outside.
Children in Years 5 and 6, were offered the amazing opportunity to sing at The Sage, Gateshead. As part of the learning alliance with Park View School, the children had singing lessons from a specialist music teacher. They learnt three lovely Christmas songs which were performed with other children from the Chester Le Street cluster. Four of the class came to The Sage and had a fantastic time.
Last week Neptune had a visit from our lovely school nurse, Donna Scott, who gave an interesting lesson on teeth.
The children learnt all about how to brush properly, and how veryimportant it is to look after our teeth.
We had an amazing turnout for our Christmas Fayre. We had some brilliant prizes, and there were lots of stalls. All of the staff, and a few of our parents, did a great job organising, selling and clearing up. We made an fantastic £450! Lovely to see so many of our families enjoying themselves.
Everyone at Beamish was involved in science activities on Friday. The theme of all the classes was the outdoors. There was lots of digging and planting, in our lovely wildlife area, and Key Stage 2 made bird feeders and hedgehog homes.
Everyone had a brilliant time at the Halloween disco, which was held in the school hall. Mrs Tyson was a great DJ and led plenty of fun games. We luckily had other staff helping, plus some lovely parent, and grandparent helpers. In between games and dancing everyone had a hot dog and a drink.
Neptune class had an amazing day out at The Centre for Life. Everyone loved the dinosaur exhibition and the science show.
As part of the Durham Book festival, Jupiter Class attended a workshop led by the author David Almond. We are currently reading his latest book, Half a Creature from the Sea, so it was fascinating to hear how he develops his ideas, and what is involved in the writing process.David told us to basically write about what we know. The class were so inspired, we started to plan our own stories as soon as we got back to school.
Beamish has a new special science area, and lots of amazing new science resources. Here are EYFS enjoying the new area by creating a whole lot of bubbles.
All of EYFS had a fantastic week enjoying a range of forest school activities. Everyone was dressed for all weathers, but the sun mostly shone.
