Welcome to our Foundation Stage
Our Nursery and Reception children are taught alongside each other in our Foundation Stage unit with our teachers Miss Storey and Miss O’Sullivan. Our children love to get out and about. Follow the links below to find out what they’ve been up too.
Autumn 1 2020
Spring 1 2020
This half term our topic is Traditional Tales. We will begin the term by reading ‘The Jolly Postman.’ and spotting all the familiar characters that he is delivering post to. We will then spend a week focusing on each character’s story including familiar tales such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Bean Stalk and Little Red Riding Hood. We will have lots of discussion about the plot, the characters and the morals within each tale. There will be lots of exciting activities for us to get busy including porridge making, growing our own beanstalk and planning a ball for Cinderella!
Autumn 2 2019
This half term our topic is ‘Where does the day go at night?’. Beginning with the story ‘Where does Thursday go?’, we will be learning all about night and day and what makes them different. We will find out about nocturnal animals, space and space travel, as well as day and night time routines. We will also explore light and dark by working with torches and observe our shadows and how they change throughout the day. Towards the end of term, we will also be carrying out lots of lovely Christmas activities.
