Almost all of Beamish School got the bus to Pelton School, this morning, for a joint Harvest Festival. We all learnt some new harvest songs, which sounded lovely. All classes performed a song or a poem, and Reception showed some lovely paintings. All of the food was collected and distributed to The People’s Kitchen.
Our annual Halloween Disco will be held in school on Monday 29th October, after school. Tickets are on sale now, in the school office.
Jupiter class visited the maths department of NDA on Friday. They were soon enthused by some tricky maths. The class enjoyed looking for patterns, and calculating multiplication and addition mentally. The teachers commented on the skills, behaviour and confidence demonstrated by everyone.
Children will be travelling to Pelton Primary on Tuesday, to have our annual joint Harvest Festival. Any gift donations of food can be brought into school from Monday 15th October. These will be donated to a local charity.
As part of their Science topic about ‘materials’, Neptune Class had a visit from Victoria from Esh Group construction firm, who are building houses not far from our school. She talked to the class about different jobs in the construction industry and encouraged the class to think about and share what jobs they would like to do in the future.

Mrs Edgell and Mrs Manning have organised gardening club this half term. The children from across school have learnt lots and made a super job of tidying up our gardens. Everyone was given a tomato plant to take home. Children have been very busy watering every day, in all of this lovely dry, sunny weather.
As part of their work on STEM, Jupiter class visited a Supersonic Car workshop at NDA. They were fascinated by the exhibition and joined in with all the activities. Mrs Blant was very impressed by how knowledgeable they were, and how well behaved they were.

As part of their topic around, ‘What I want to be when I grow up’, Miss Storey organised a surprise visit from the local Fire Brigade. A brilliant time was had by all.

Our Year 6 leavers assembly will be held at 2.15pm, on Thursday. We will start with a Year 5/6 trumpet performance. All families welcome.
