In Foundation Stage we have been developing our Wildlife Area. Now we can watch for birds and look closely at mini beasts.

Science Week 4-7th May 21

This week the children have enjoyed science activities set up by year 5/6 children. They looked closely at caterpillars, found out how many pennies it took to sink a foil boat and discovered how cornflour turns from a liquid to a solid.

Summer Term 2021

An exciting half term ahead…Are you ready to learn about mini beasts? Well come with us to search for mini beasts, explore their habitats and learn new facts. The experience of watching caterpillars turn into butterflies, will be one you won’t forget! Spring term 2021

We enjoyed joining in with Easter celebrations at school. We had an egg hunt in the nursery garden. Painted eggs and made Easter pictures for our family too. We tasted hot cross buns and discussed how they are to help us remember Jesus on the cross. Over the Easter Holidays we entered an Easter egg competition. It’s so eggciting, I hope I win…

Although we have been in lockdown during spring term, we have still been having lots of fun in School!

Chinese New Year

As part of our celebrations topic we learned all about Chinese New Year.

We created our very own Chinese dragons and lanterns and tried on some traditional clothing.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

We made porridge and tried different flavours. Our favourite flavour was honey.

We made bear puppets and re-told the story.

We also followed instructions to paint our own bear.

Autumn 2 2020

Our topic this half term is ‘To infinity and beyond!’ where we will learn all about space. Our focus books are Whatever next, How to catch a star and Aliens love underpants, learning all about the solar system, space travel, astronauts and stars.

We also have lots of exciting things to celebrate and learn about. We will begin the term with a Halloween themed day, followed on by a week learning about Diwali, which is the festival of lights. We will learn all about how the festival is celebrated and even have our own Diwali celebration. We will also have a day focused on both bonfire night and Remembrance Day and talk about why they are important. Finally, to finish the term, we will spend two weeks focusing on Christmas.

Autumn 1 2020

This half term our topic is Superheroes and super me! We will be sharing a variety of superhero books and discussing what makes them superheroes and what similarities we share with them which make us super. We will be reading Superworm, investigating worms in our outdoor area and creating our own wormery. We will also be reading Supertato and trying to capture the evil pea! Our main focus this half term is to ensure that the children are settled, happy and ready to learn. We will be sharing our experiences of what we have been up to over summer, talking about our likes and dislikes and our families. In maths we will be focusing on sharing and comparing amounts, creating patterns and counting. In Early years we learn through play and lots of fun practical activities which we will be sharing with you via class dojo and tapestry.
